Annual Islam and Racial Justice Conference: October 2020

Last month Black Muslim Forum partnered with the Muslim Council of Britain, Everyday Muslim and the Civil Service Muslim Network for our first annual conference on the problem of anti-black racism within the Muslim community and the solutions needed to combat this.

The conference was divided over two days and saw a day dedicated to the Black Muslim Youth (Day two).

Speakers at the two-day conference included Mustafa Briggs, Dr Bilal Ware, Momodou Taal, Sultanah Parvin, Will Noor, Ismael Lea South, Rakin Fetuga, Soukeyna Osei-Bonsu, Amani Mugasa, Sadiya Ahmed, Hafsah Dabiri, Naima B Robert amongst many other valuable contributions.

Topics that were explored included the Qur’anic injunction against racial supremacy, Misogynoir and anti-black racism within religious settings such as the mosque and madrassah.

To catch up on both conference days please visit Black Muslim Forum’s Facebook page where both recordings are available to watch.
